At Home Whitening Instructions
1. Prior to Treatment:
Brush and floss first to remove any debris. Put the whitening trays in your mouth before applying gel to ensure comfort and proper fit. Make sure the trays are clean and dry before applying gel. Moisture inhibits the whitening gel and will effect the desired results.
2. Applying the Bleaching Gel:
When placing the gel into the trays, make sure to leave space for displacement. Apply a small drop of gel half way up on the inner surface of the tray (in the front of each tooth in the tray). Do not spread the bleach around. We recommend that you only attempt to whiten the front teeth as no one sees your molars.
3. Inserting the Trays:
Place the tray firmly against the teeth. Wipe any excess gel, which will seep over the brim onto your gums. Wear the tray with the gel as directed below.
4. Wearing times:
If you have not used at home whitening systems before, try for 40-60 minutes the first time and increase wearing time if there is no tooth sensitivity.
For Carbamide Peroxide Bleaching Gels:
10%, 15% or 16% strength can be used 2 to 4 hours once or twice/day or overnight while sleeping if no sensitivity
20-22% bleaching gel: use for 30 minutes to 1 hour once or twice per day. This time is not to be exceeded.
For Hydrogen Peroxide Bleaching Gels:
Hydrogen Peroxide Bleaching gel must only be used for 30-60 minutes.
5. After Whitening:
Remove the tray and give your mouth a thorough rinse. Brush any gel remnants away, and continue with your normal oral care routine. If you are experiencing sensitivity, apply desensitizing gel.
